National Day of Mourning, April 28
South East Cornerstone Public School Division will support wherever possible the lowering of flags on school buildings today in recognition of the National Day of Mourning. Each year in Canada an average of 1,000 workers are killed on the job and hundreds of thousands of others are either injured or suffer illnesses as a result of workplace related diseases. The National Day of Mourning was established in 1991 to mourn for those who died, but also to re-enforce the commitment to continue to fight for a healthy and safe workplace.
